It was around midnight that the back-up silver INTERUSH Ferrari F430 was able to return to the race with the new red cowling from the original race car, installed onto the damaged front end.
By this time road conditions were much improved over the wet start of the race, however the track was still damp and the air was getting cooler by the hour, creating very slick surfaces. Over the course of the next several hours of darkness several spin-outs and collisions led to numerous cars having to be either towed off the race track, or they hobbled back to their pits and garages for repairs.
The INTERUSH Racing Team did well for the next few hours, then it too experienced a spin out and rear-end collision into the wall that ultimately ended the team's chances.
In total the team ran for 112 laps on the 3.56-mile, 12-turn speedway road course, for a total distance of nearly 400 miles, which is longer than the distance of most American road races, but was not enough for this ROLEX 24 hour international sports car endurance race.
Unfortunately, and despite what had been posted on the events website, NASCAR determined that Roger Yasukawa would not be allowed to substitute for one of the back-up Ferrari Team's drivers. This was another very unfortunate development as Roger with all his experience and skill may have been able to have avoided some of the problems the team experienced and the outcome may have have been very different.
By morning light, of the 44 original cars only about half were still in competition. In a race marked by unusual wet and cold weather, a large number of accidents and a record number of lead changes, Joao Barbosa held off Scott Pruett by 52.303 seconds to win the GRAND-AM ROLEX 24 at Daytona in the # 9 Action Express Racing, Porsche Riley Daytona Prototype.
Sylvain Tremblay, Jonathan Bomarito, Nick Ham and David Haskell won the GT Class race by four laps in the # 70 Castrol Syntec Mazda RX-8.
"It's just unbelievable," Barbosa said. "For the team to perform under really difficult circumstances like 24 hours, they did an amazing job."
It also marked the second consecutive and 22nd overall victory for Porsche in the event.
The race featured a record 53 lead changes. All but two of the Daytona Prototypes led in the event, and all but two of them experienced heart-breaking problems that dropped them out of contention.
IndyCar and NASCAR drivers Dixon, Franchitti, Montoya and McMurray combined to lead 139 laps in the # 02 TELMEX/Target BMW Riley. Montoya was leading the race at midnight when his car began smoking. Moments later, he went to the garage and the car was retired with engine failure.
The winners' average speed was 111.930 mph. The race was slowed 16 times by caution for 74 laps of the over 750 total laps completed.
The four drivers from both the Daytona Prototype Class and the GT Class sports cars were each presented with the prestigious ROLEX Daytona upon their historic 2010 ROLEX 24 at Daytona victories.
Despite some troubles during the race week, the INTERUSH Racing Team had the most popular car based on car racing fans reactions to the #08 red Ferrari F430 and #52 silver Ferrari F430 cars each time they left the garage area giving lots of attention and PR for INTERUSH. We also look forward to reports from Roger Yasukawa throughout the year on the INTERUSH racing blog.

After weeks of preparation for the ROLEX 24 at Daytona, during Friday afternoon's practice and qualifying sessions, it was apparent to the Ferrari mechanics that there was a serious problem with the #08 INTERUSH Ferrari. It was causing worrisome vibration at speeds in excess of 200 km/hr.
Despite all best efforts, the mechanics could simply not repair the right rear wheel assembly in time for the race deadline. After consultation with the Grand Am officials it was agreed and the tough decision was made that the race team could not jeopardize the safety and lives of the teams' drivers or any of the other drivers on the course, by starting a race car that was potentially unsafe.
Fortunately a related second Ferrari team was also in the race and so the contingency plan was enacted to add INTERUSH and many of our related logos to the related car. Unfortunately this car was silver in color, so it also had a very different overall appearance. However in the end the original size of INTERUSH logo and Google Apps logo were placed on the silver Ferrari hood. Large INTERUSH letter were added to the side, plus the entire rear wing had the INTERUSH logo displayed. The IRIS and iRacing logos were also added to side panels.
The race began on schedule despite the heavy rains that had started shortly before the race. The silver INTERUSH Ferrari had qualified 24 among 29 GT entries. Despite the slick conditions the race team with five experienced drivers was very optimistic as the Ferrari typically ran faster than most other GT sports cars in the wet conditions. Then after just over 2 hours of racing, the Ferrari spun out on the horseshoe turn and slammed into the guard rail. After a minute the Ferrari was able to back out of the grassy area and slowly make its way back to the pit area. The car was then rushed to the track's garage area and the Ferrari mechanics immediately started repairs, including replacing the broken front cowling with the same body part from the original red INTERUSH race car.
At the time this was written the car was expected to return to race within minutes...

The team finished practice and final qualifying of the Rolex 24 at Daytona on the 2nd day of the event.
The Daytona International Speedway is one of the largest race tracks in the U.S., and as a superspeedway allows maximum raceable speeds for these fast racing cars. Due to this high speed element, it is one of the most popular venues in motorsports and many of the top events are held here throughout the year. The schedule was full all day with practice and qualifying for the Rolex Series GT and Prototype classes and also with the Continental Tire Challenge class of cars taking the track. The INTERUSH RACING Team qualified for the race and all four drivers were able to complete runs during the limited alloted time for practice.
All that is left now is the start of the Rolex 24 (hour race) at Daytona. The INTERUSH RACING team thanks you for your support!

With the clear skies, here in Florida, the Rolex 24 At Daytona was commenced today.

The team put their utmost efforts to deliver the best possible speed with the car. Due to their dedication, the car passed the pre-race vehicle inspection, and had great runs on the Daytona International Speedway circuit. After the warm-up, Yasukawa is well prepared and determined to do well at the final race two days from now.
