As part of our NASCAR sponsorship of driver Stanton Barrett, who races for RWR Racing Team, INTERUSH was also recognized as a co-sponsor for another RWR Racing Team which competes in the Arenacross Series of the AMA (American Motorcyclist Association).
Arenacross racing has tight courses set-up inside very large arenas. To succeed in these challenging dirt tracks, the team must have high-performance equipment, and driver must have excellent technique, finesse and fitness.
In 2009 a total of 21 events were held in the AMA Arenacross Series, with live audiences ranging of 8,000 to 20,000 at each event, and an estimated international television audience in the tens of millions of viewers.
At the end of the 2009 race season, the two riders from the RWR Team finished an incredible first and third in the overall standings, also bringing great attention to the associate sponsors Mahindra, Tuf and Interush.
Jeff Gibson has competed in USA motocross for nearly 15 years and winning his first National Championship was his goal. Racing for RWR, Gibson cruised through Grand Rapids with two podium finishes of 2nd and 3rd and left the weekend with a slight points lead, and that is as close as it got. Aboard his Mahindra Tractors/Interush Honda, Gibson went on a terror, winning a total 6 Main Events, 13 Heat races and a podium finish in all but 2 events in the 17-race schedule.
Gibson’s RWR teammate for 2009 is Josh Demuth. The two-time AMA Arenacross Champion returned to the series and looked for his 3rd title. Demuth, on the Mahindra / Interush Honda, showed the world he was a threat, winning 2 Main Events, 2 AMA Lite Main Events and winning 8 heat races. If it wasn’t for a mishap in Grand Rapids, the final points may have been closer. When the two stood on the podium at the Kentucky Arena with a 1-2 finish in the event, Demuth was just 2 points away from the runner-up title in the Championship points.
Gibson and Demuth closed the season out with back-to-back 1-2 finishes and completing the 4th Mahindra Tractors/Interush sweep of the season.
At the close of this 2009 AMA Arenacross series, Jeff Gibson finished #1 and Josh Demuth finished #3 overall… a stunning result for the RWR Race Team and their sponsors, Mahindra and Interush.
