After great anticipation, Interush Affiliates converged at the Motegi Race Track, from all over Japan and also Taiwan for the IndyCar Bridgestone Japan 300 Race. Nearly 500 Interush Racing team members and family arrived Saturday morning to once again nearly perfect race conditions. The weather was lightly overcast, about 24C and not much wind, so it was very comfortable, and would not be a factor in the race.
The Interush Race Car, driven by Stanton Barrett was to start in 20th position, ahead of the Panasonic Car, a Penske Car, and the 7-ELEVEN Race Car. The race started at 12 noon and the race cars followed the Honda pace car for two laps – and then the race began!
The cars accelerated rapidly to well over 300 km/hr and the field started to spread out. During the course of the race there were two cars that slid off at the corner and smashed into the wall. Several other cars had some mechanical difficulty, including the Interush Car that fell several laps behind when a pit stop turned into an extended wheel repair. Our driver did a very good job despite still recovering from a back and neck problem from a crash months before. The Interush sponsored race car was one of the cars that was able to complete this demanding race, bringing worldwide attention and honor to Interush.
Throughout the 200 laps, the cars were featured to a worldwide audience that included millions of race fans in Japan , the USA and in many other countries.
In the end, the race was won by Scott Dixon in the Target/Microsoft sponsored car, who also was the 2008 overall champion. The Interush/Phytter sponsored IndyCar finished in 19th position racing against other entries from McDonald’s, Motorola, US Air Force, Click Shoken, Panasonic, Mobil Oil, and others.
When the race ended , Stanton Barrett walked across the track and bowed appreciatively to all the Interush Affiliates who had been such excellent fans throughout the race. Shortly afterwards Stanton Barrett, Marty Matthews (Chairman) and Todd Mitsuishi (CEO) met with all the Interush members at the very popular Interush Racing display, perfectly located just inside the main Motegi entrance. Members met with the driver and executives for photos together, plus autographs.
All together it was a terrific and exciting day for all the Interush Members who were able to attend. It was also a very good day for Interush who received tremendous exposure among the estimated fifty thousand weekend race fans at Motegi and the millions who viewed the race worldwide.
Be sure to check out the stories, photos and videos that will be posted on the Interush corporate websites and the Affiliate blogs and official members’ page.
